The New York Department of Health provides residents with access to copies of birth certificates for individuals born in the state of New York. Certified birth records are $30 for the first copy and can be obtained by mail, telephone, or online. Ordering over the phone or online can take seven to ten business days. Mail requests with priority handling can take up to three weeks, and regular mail requests can take as long as eight weeks from when the order was received.

The fastest way to obtain death records is online or over the phone - which may take up to seven business days.

I am trying to locate a dear old friend. Have tried FB, and all the usual routes. someone told me they heard she passed away. I would like to try and find out if this is true, but can't seem to navigate the webpage when I put in death records, or death certificates. Can someone help?
